From June to September 2022, I'm doing a 3 month Media Engagement Placement at the RNLI, working with lifeboat stations and beach lifeguards across Scotland to promote water safety and support the charity. Below is a selection of news releases that I have written for the RNLI.

The RNLI is teaming up with Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS), HM Coastguard and Police Scotland to offer potentially lifesaving water safety and rescue training to employees at establishments along the River Nith in Dumfries.

The charity’s Waterside Responder initiative has proven to be a success in other areas of country and is being rolled out across Dumfries and Galloway to promote water safety.

RNLI Scotland launch safety campaign as 267,000 visited beaches last summer

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) and Her Majesty’s (HM) Coastguard have launched a water safety campaign as figures reveal over 267,000 people visited RNLI lifeguarded beaches last summer.

With a recent survey revealing 35 million people are planning to visit UK coastal regions this summer, the charity’s lifesavers are expecting a busy summer ahead.

Schoolgirl shares her future plans of becoming a RNLI lifeboat crew member

Hollie Hutton, the daughter of volunteer Mechanic, Jonathon Hutton, at Peterhead Lifeboat Station, has shared her dream of becoming a RNLI crew member, following in the footsteps of her father.

Three callouts in 24 hours for Peterhead RNLI lifeboat crew

No rest for Peterhead RNLI crew as the volunteer team respond to three different shouts within the space of 24 hours.

Anstruther RNLI to commemorate 10,000 loved ones on the hull of a new lifeboat

Through the ‘Launch a Memory’ campaign, members of the public and supporters of the charity will be able to commemorate a loved one by making a suggested donation of £50 online and submitting that person’s name.

East Sands RNLI lifeguard assists two paddleboarders caught in offshore winds | RNLI

RNLI lifeguard jumped into action after spotting two paddleboarders struggling to return to shore on Sunday afternoon (10 July) at East Sands Beach in St Andrews.

After monitoring the progress of the two paddleboarders into shore for around 10 minutes, RNLI lifeguard, Jake Muir, entered the water on a rescue board to assist the pair.

With a record-breaking 290,000 fans attending The 150th Open in St Andrews, the charity’s lifesavers are expecting a busy week on West Sands Beach.
